Family Adventures


Our newest offering are our Family Summer Adventures - selected Saturdays where families can engage in learning and fun. These free and engaging experiences are provided by the many generous donors of the Quincy Valley Historical Society & Museum, and the proceeds of our Sagebrush Mercantile, managed by Mara Jacobs.

For 2019:

Saturday, July 20: “It’s Electrifying!” All about electricity and our irrigation system, with free bus tour at 10 am given by Craig from Quincy Columbia Basin Irrigation District, 1 PM “Volts and Jolts” show by Pacific Science Center and interactive exhibit on electricity and engineering until 4.

Saturday, August 24: “Food for Thought” Focus on the food grown in the Quincy Valley, this session will feature onions, dairy and potatoes.

10 AM: Free bus tour at Blakal potato packing and Faw and Sons onion fields. Limited to first 18 people to arrive prior to 10:00.

1:00 to 3:00: Fun and free stations for the whole family to include Potato Launcher Cannon from CB Tech in Moses Lake, visit from Mr. French Fry and Potato, make your own Mr. Potato Head, Onion & Potato Printing, Make a Potato-Gram, WA State Dairy Ambassador Meet and Greet, “Beauty” the milking cow, and two fun food treats: French Fries by Lamb Weston and Old-Fashioned Churned vanilla ice cream with a gasoline-powered antique churn (served around 2 pm). Plus try out a vintage tractor and see the new farming exhibit in the Heritage Barn! A great time for all!
